A Game as Old as Empire by various whistle blowing economic hit men

Admittedly, this should have been posted eons ago, I read this book nearly 2 years ago as I was investigating the effects of Capitalism on the Philippines. It wasn’t pretty, in fact once you read other books by John Perkins, your image of Capitalism, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund like mine would change drastically.

One of the chapters in the book “A Game as Old as Empire” was about the Philippines and how the World Bank, and the American Chamber of Commerce backed Marcos up in order to basically strip the Philippines of her resources. I always wondered why the Philippines had no heavy industries and well, this book has shown me why we didn’t.

The Marcos Regime had a dark economic secret, which I think should be shared to everyone.

Below is my report on it last semester as part of the Innovation and Technology Class.
